Everybody's working for the weekend...

Noo, we haven't put Alex to work (not yet). (Or ourselves for that matter, well, 9-5 work) But we had a great weekend - Laurence and Sue (Great Aunt and Great Uncle to Alex) came over to meet the guy and fortunately he did open his eyes at the final point of their visit to show off just a bit and for a great photo opp. Love this picture.

Alon and Jen came over to catch up and meet the patootie as well.

And last but not least, a virtual cousin visit! Jackie (pictured below) said 'Hi' and 'Cheerio' to Alex! She is awestruck. (and adorable) Cousins Mindy, Cory and Alex all saw the live action Alex on the screen as well...

The Meeting.

On the way to Notting Hill, the entire David Matthews Band stopped by our place. The time had come for Ellie and Alex to meet- there was not enough time to get Alex ready (i.e. fully awake) but it's safe to say it was a raging success as documented below.

At first, Ellie seems a bit apprehensive...'What's this?'

Then, all smiles!! How cute!

Soon, we'll all go out properly-- I have a feeling that I'll be up for more activity next week. (activity being-- leaving the house for more than 10-20 minutes)

Caption Contest No. 1!

Hi-- I have put up a photo and you're all invited to submit a caption for it. We'll start with this classic Liza/Alex photo taken in the Mac Photo Booth. We'll take submissions for the next week or so-- and announce the winner soon after. Hmm, prizes:

1st Place: Dinner w/ Alex!
2nd Place: Dinner w/ Glen!

If you're all into it-- there will be more contests!

Caption example: "Aww geez, this is embarrassing."

Why leave the house....

when everyone comes to you? It's been rainy and gray outside -- in London of all places. I know, shocking -- so no need to venture out there -- and we've had yet more visitors! Some BBC friends came by before their Winter Olympics night shifts and Alex was introduced to cricket by Helen with a wonderful Build-A-Bear cricket player named Ferdinand (in honor of legendary QPR player "Sir" Les Ferdinand). Alex now has an "I Heart NY" onesie to wear once he gets a little bigger from Sarah's recent NYC trip.
Robert also came by earlier in the week to meet Alex -- he knows a thing or two about babies as he has an adorable 2 year old girl.
We also had a impromptu visit from Ellie and Lee (not pictured -- they stood outside the door) -- but alas, Ellie was asleep and not fit for meeting Alex at this time but we thought we'd mention it. Ooh, the anticipation! Glen says, 'This must be what it's like for families before an arranged marriage'. They did drop off an amazingly preppy first day of school outfit from the States.

Also, included is a picture of the little sweetie in cute sheep pajamas (pyjamas)- thought the sheep might put him to sleep easily. He looks quite peaceful here-- but it may have taken a while to get there...oh, the irony. It's killing me.

The many faces of...

our main man, Alex! Ok, so the last one- baby's first smile? It lasted for just a few seconds but he must be dreaming about the first joke he's going to tell us. Can't wait. No pressure, though.

Ahead of ourselves...

When Alex was just about a week old, I may have jumped the gun. I was very excited about our activity mat (Thanks, Lee!) and whipped that puppy out to place Alex on it. Ok, he didn't hate it but I wouldn't say that he was able to put the 'active' in activity. Glen enjoyed it though, he's really good at reaching for the little animals that makes noises. We're all so proud.

ps just noticed the date stamp on this photo-- um, he was 3 days old! ha!

Solo Performance...

So-- we heard from David Matthews this morning and thought maybe it was time....for Alex to be officially set up with his first girlfriend. It was thought that Ellie (an older woman! by 11 months), of Lee and David fame might stop by to meet Alex so I did set up some entertainment for her. (a square and a wooden toy that I know she likes to eat)

We were not disappointed but it was David who came by to meet Alex...probably to confirm that the set up would happen the next time around - with Lee back in town. David and Alex are getting along famously as seen below! We expect the rest of his band to accompany him next time.

Outside!

We went outside for a walk-- for me, more like 'ouchside' but the sun was out! I may not go there for a few more days. It was fun though, did an errand or two and we all even stopped along the way for an order of tapas. That may have been overdoing it-- but look at the get up we put Alex in....it wasn't that cold. He was cozy and slept during the entire adventure. Took a snapshot in front of Grandpa Saul's fave restaurant. Ok, not favorite, but he's been there and recommended it. It is good.

I wanna be popular...

Isn't that what they say? (Jess, as the 'Wicked' showtunes expert, is that the name of the song? Let me know as you're the official fact checker for the post)
Anyway, Kirsty, friend and e-dialog colleague extraordinaire came over yesterday to see Mr. Popularity and regale me with tales of how the office survives without me! (well, i never! gasp!)
He was in fine form as usual.

Stop! Tummy Time!

A lovely NHS Health Visitor came by today to check on us and we chatted and got some baby advice. There was something said about letting babies be on their tummies at some point during the day. (not to sleep that way but during 'play time') I can't exactly remember why but we did it! I know that it's something that's good for him.

Here's how it went down.

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

So, we received a fantastic package from Aunt Edith (Great Aunt to Alex) this afternoon filled with all sorts of goodies. When I saw this outfit, although Alex was maybe about to drift into a slumber, I immediately took off what he was wearing to put on this get-up. Look at the cleats!! (sorry, sweetie but wasn't it worth it)It does say 'Daddy's all stars' but it is very clear w/ the emblem that this is 'Property of Mommy'.

Thank you Edith! We love you and can't wait to see you!

Also, this outfit was worn when the Pinner girls, Emma and Louise, came by. Thanks for visiting!

More guests and live action!

We continue to have visitors over and Alex is making many friends. Jane, Martin and Millie came over to play and he was his fine self. No, Millie is not grabbing him-- but the perspective of the picture makes it look like she has somewhat giant hands reaching out to him. (she does not have giant hands)

Then, his first French friend and my lovely colleague, Emmanuelle, came over after work to play and relax with our little one. He was wearing his 'tchou tchou' outfit as she calls it. Which is just cute.

Alex also has Olympic Fever but nothing to worry about-- curling will help cure that.
(* on an admin note- blogger.com has been having issues in general w/ videos publishing and saying they are 'not available at this time'. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it to totally fix it but it has been noted and added to their bug report as other users have found this issue in the past month or so...once I republish the post, the videos are up and ready to go so not all is lost)

Grandparents!

A baby blog needs some doting grandparents images, right? Well, here are a few....the US grandparents may be virtual right now but they're real and will be here in the flesh in the next month. Alex was happy to take the photo with them....

Introducing: Grandma Sue & Grandpa John AND
Grandma Linda and Grandpa Saul

AND for good measure, just a photo w/ the same old caption of AWWWWWW. I'm wearing a hat! (there's not much more to say)

Lazy Sunday...

I just had to go over to Alex right now and take this picture. He's been so good today and sleeping when he should and waking up when necessary. But man, these babies do sleep a lot-- I missed him. We hung out a bit but I felt like we hung out a lot more 24 hours ago. Great-- he's already too cool for me. It took 9 days.

Here he is today- hanging out w/ Glen below.

Happy Valentine's Day! He is quite exhausted from all the love.

Live Action Alex!

Awww....

No photos, please.

Just cute. Do I need another reason? Good.

More....and guests!

Some first week photos. It's been a great week (understatement) - have had little sleep, sent Glen on embarrassing errands (go Glen!)but most of all -- time was spent looking at this little guy. He's had quite a few visitors and everyone seems to get along really well! I mean, why wouldn't they all get along?

Cross blog promotion

A few things while I'm here and possibly have your attention:

1) So...I've heard about this Harvey Karp MD and his DVD while pregnant, I wanted to check out the website and just lost it with the music, I knew we were meant to follow his techniques:
http://www.happiestbaby.com/

I did not just find a great way to get little Alex to sleep-- but a way to cross promote a previous blog. You may not know about http://Lastnightsjeopardy.blogspot.com but I had to mention it since it's been neglected. And no, I did not name Alex after Mr. Trebek. Seriously. No.

2) I downloaded a few videos for Alex and realized that there were a few vids on the camera from months ago. One is very appropriate to cross promote my other favorite blog, LEAH'S BLOG! YAY!!! threeisthenewtoo.blogspot.com I had this video from Paris when we're all doing a post falafel dance. (falafel from L'As -- GO THERE)

'This is the best day of my life...'

'It is...it iiiiissss' Although, I'm quoting a few lines from Billy Madison (mostly for you Jess), it's all true! February 5, 2010. Best. Day. Ever. BBL (Baby Boy Levy) as he was fondly known for many months became real with the below stats!

2.86 kg (6.3 lb)
Alex Samuel Levy

Get a load of this!
